Teens
Navigating through life as a teen may be hard. I offer individual counseling to teens ages 13-18. With life development, your teen may experience changes to their self-esteem, body, and even thought process. It can be overwhelming which may induce behavioral changes in your teenager. I will work with your teenager to support them through life adjustments. I understand the importance of meeting them where they are in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. I use a variety of creative techniques to engage with your teenager which will induce for self-expression.
There is a family component to counseling for children and teens. I will discuss periodic family sessions to encourage support for your child. My goal is to provide your child with a safe environment to express his or her thoughts with their family when needed.
Children
Play therapy is often used with children ages three-12. Play therapy gives children a safe environment to express themselves in a manner that is more natural to them. Children are intuitive and know when something is wrong, but they may not have the verbal ability to communicate their feelings. Children can communicate their feelings without utilizing verbal language by using play therapy. When I utilize play therapy I ensure that the child feels secure and provide various options for self-expression. I utilize sand, art, and puppet play to name a few materials that I use. I understand that each child may gravitate to different things to express their thoughts. I will tailor each session to meet the needs of the client.
Play therapy is appropriate for the following:
- Trauma
- Low self-esteem
- Depression
- Behavioral Problems
- Life adjustment
- Attachment issues
- Greif
- Divorce
